0415 - small-world network

There are 2 videos I made.

kinetic city architecture with human motion

They are based on Small-world network and 6 degrees of separation. (link _research blog)

These philosophy are about connections between people. According to 6 degrees of separation, everyone is six or fewer steps away from any other person in the world, so that a chain of "a friend of a friend" statements can be made to connect any two people in a maximum of six steps. Social network services, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter also based on this theory. I think this is very interesting, because it means we are all connected with invisible lines.

However, it practiced between only human. I think all objects in the city (buildings, streetlights, and etc.) also can be connected to human, because we meet them everyday, and affect each other. Especially, when people meet cars, some rules are applied to them. They can't move at the same time, and most of them can move in a fixed direction. Of course there are some exceptions. Sometimes a few people and cars have their own ways, this makes an unexpected result.

(link _research blog)
